Latest Bird almost flying free, check out 0.6RC3! Check out our latest candidate release toward our goal to deliver Songbird 0.6 this month. We are asking that our dedicated open source community try this candidate build out and provide feedback and bugs. Happy Bug Hunting!

NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS
The following are new features and improvements for the Songbird 0.6 release:

We have implemented jemalloc as our memory allocator for XULRunner on windows and linux. On these platforms we’ve been noticing Songbird’s memory footprint has reduced between 15-20%.
There is a new metadata editor! To check it out select a track and choose cmd/ctrl+e.
We now write metadata back to the file.
For Windows, the latest MTP add-on has been revved and we’re supporting more devices.
For all OS platforms, the iPod add-on has been completely rewritten to support our new device API
Major performance improvements in the library when scrolling, filtering and importing (we now support much larger libraries too.)
For Mac, the latest Quicktime add-ons for ppc and intel greatly improve playback performance for local MP3 and M4A files (no more latency issues before playback begins.)

Index column width can be shrunk to cut off index values (4571)
Youtube scraping not supported (5199)
Need to change the HTTP accept-language tag to match locale (5437)
EULA/other dialogs text cropped when OS is using big fonts (5583)
Window min/max sizing does not respect DPI (6956)
[iPod] Album Artwork switched to wrong music (7780)
Maximize/Restore buttons get confused (8028)
[scrapper] Media scans occur and show % Found even on non-media sites (8037)
[VMware] When Changing VM from windowed resolution to Maximize, SB installer doesn't adapt (8723)
[metadata-writing] Unable to write metadata to .m4a files (8812)
Scan for Media gets stuck on archive files (9789)

Windows Specific

[QT] erratic playback for protected aac (m4p) files (do not use nsITimer) (2361)
Auto hide task bar is not maximized when SB is maximized (6116)
[vlc] Play of remote files where connection is dropped causes hang (7874)
[win][linux] Maximize icon displays always, even when is should be minimize(8031)
[mtp] metadata for existing media items are off (8068)
[win] [linux] Songbird collapses when placed on RH dual monitor and Maximized from task bar (8535)
[mtp] crash when closing songbird during a sync (9806)

Linux Specific

Text cut-off in library, etc, when fonts are in large DPI mode (2496)
No way to have system-wide install (can only install to a single user) (3679)
Can't play Songs from .htaccess password protected apache directory (5011)
[Linux] Maximize window state not retained on Quit/Relaunch (6657)
Restarting app too quickly after quitting causes a "app is still running dialog" (6671)

[mac] Modal dialogs sometimes stay on top of every window in the OS (9323)
Songbird is unstable on Mac 10.5.3 (9666)
