The Profile Manager allows you to start up Songbird with a fresh, clean profile without losing your existing Profile. Once you've created multiple Profiles, you can use the Profile Manager to choose which profile to use upon startup. Your Profile includes all sorts of useful stuff, such as your Library, your Bookmarks, your playback history, and your preferences.
There are two methods, one of which is simply to go to Start > All Programs > Songbird > Songbird (Profile Manager).
The other is to open a command window and run the following:
cd C:\Program Files\Songbird songbird -ProfileManager &
Open a Terminal window and run the following:
/Applications/Songbird.app/Contents/MacOS/songbird -ProfileManager &
Instead of launching you directly into Songbird, you'll see a window that looks like this:

Use the "Create Profile" button to make a new profile, then highlight it and click "Start Songbird."

Note that Songbird will always launch from the profile titled "default" unless you open the Profile Manager to choose an alternate profile.
There's more information about using the Profile Manager on the Mozilla support site: http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile.
