MTP Device Support

    Songbird 0.5 and above added MTP device support on Windows. The following is a list of devices that have been tested as being compatible with our MTP implementation per internal Songbird QA testing or via our community input. General known MTP device open issue with Songbird are listed here.

    If you have a device that is not listed here it doesn't necessarily mean the device won't work, it just means that we haven't had an opportunity to try it. Below are links for providing additional device feedback to us.

    How to Provide Additional Device Feedback

    • If you have a device that works but it is not listed here please email us.
      We'll add your device to the list above and notate that it was community tested.
    • If you have a device that does not work, or does not work as expected, we'd like to explore it further.
      Please file a bug with bugzilla providing the make and model of the device you tried, what versions of Songbird and the MTP Addon you tested it with, your Operating System, and any other comments that could help us investigate the issue. Thanks!

    - In futher inspection it seems to have deleted my paid for ringtones.
    E71 Phone 1.0.0 Final 1.0.12.860 Mount, Library, Play, Sync, Eject Community Unable to sync m4a file as they are apparently unsupported, this is definitely wrong files play when copied to device manually
    N80 Phone 0.5 Final 1.0.0 Mount, Library, Play, Sync, Eject Community Bug 8153- Can't copy tracks to an empty Nokia N80 phone

    Note: may have regional differences. needs confirmation on where it was bought eg. NA, EU, JP also maybe it works better with the mass storage add-on?

    Seems to suffer same issue as Nokia N80
    (Bug 8153    - Can't copy tracks to an empty Nokia N80 phone). Works fine if there are already some MP3s on the device.

    As of the Songbird 0.7 release my Microsoft Zune isn't seen by Songbird, it worked almost like a native device in the 0.6.1 release. Note I'm using the 2.5 firmware version on the Zune for both, and I have the MTP Add on installed. edited 14:57, 1 Sep 2008

    Any idea when cover art transfer will be supported for MTP devices? I have a Creative Zen 2GB and everything works, except Cover Art. Occassionally Songbird will not recognize my device, and I have to reconnect it to make it work. Otherwise, it works great!

    There are some Erros(as my MTP Device is SONY WALKMAN NWZ-A818): 1.when I sync AAC files(.m4a) ,it doesn't work (A818 do really support this format) but mp4(audio) files will be transfered to VIDEO file 2. Some information like year,album may lose when I sync it to my player(it displays UNKOWN) 3.Some Chinese Charater can not display correctly. BTW, I really like this software but I get in trouble with these three difficulties. Can you fix them and make the software even more better? Thanx for your nice work! ^^
